Valentine’s Day Mini Session Collage

One of the nice things about the Mini Sessions is that there are a lot of fun things you can do with the images.  You can hand out custom Valentine’s Day cards to family, friends and classmates.  You can have a custom calendar made to enjoy throughout the year. Or you could get a custom collage like the one below.  It’s super cute to hang in your child’s room or gift to Grandma & Grandpa! There are some appointment times still available. 978 758 2804  or email: steinhoff13@charter.net

“One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in the middle of winter.” – Henry David Thoreau

People often ask me if I like to photograph outside during the winter.  The answer is, “I do!”  There is beautiful light during the Winter, especially when there is snow on the ground.  The sun, low in the winter sky, shining through the bare trees is soft and brings a certain peacefulness to the images. Though there might not be flowers, the colors of scarfs and hats or vests lets us brighten the photos with the colors of our choice. Book your family’s winter shoot before the snow disappears! Clothing/Color combination for Summer Family Portraits

Here’s a summer color pallete that looks great at the beach or in the green grass.  Cheryl Steinhoff Photography is now booking for August 2012.  Check out the booking calendar on www.cherylsteinhoffphotography.com

What should my little girl wear for her session?

What should my child wear for the session?  I think this is the most commonly asked question by my clients.  It’s not an easy one to answer either. Putting together an outfit for a photoshoot gets increasingly more tricky with each person you add.  You can get away with almost anything (meaning subtle or funky, not dirty or misfitted) with one subject.  In fact, you can have a lot of fun with colors and patterns when you’re only concerned with one child in the photo.  I love many of the bright and bold patterns, especially for girls.

This is a cute dress from Janie and Jack.

And here, Lipstik Girls has great green top and leggings.

Would I put them together on sisters in a photo?  NO, but invidually they are fab.

If you don’t want to spend top dollar, you need to check you Buttons and Bows Consignment Couture in Acton.  Jillian Shaw has a fabulous store full of high end consignment clothes for babies and children.

If this isn’t the cutest thing you’ve seen today…

If this isn’t the cutest thing you’ve seen today…please show me what was!  The tune in the music box made this baby girl so happy.  The fact that she seemed to be controlling it, made her ecstatic!  I love the hair bow that she is wearing (from Buttons and Bows)…it adds just a touch of femininity to her very understated outfit.  We got a whole lot of smiles that I can’t wait to share with her family. I’ll add a few more on facebook too!

Boy and Pup

Is there anything better than a boy and his new puppy?  I challenge you to find something.  The smile and the confidence that the child exudes in these photos made my day.  I love how a dog can make you feel better so easily.

Getting Ready?

Are you getting ready for a family photo session this spring with Cheryl Steinhoff?  Not sure how to dress?  One of the most important things to know is what colors compliment each other.  This is a wonderful chart I found on Pintrest that shows some great examples all with gap and old navy clothes.

My “Springy” model

She got to dress like it was spring and have a great time bouncing on Mom’s bed while I got my display shot.  This gorgeous child is full of energy and giggles.  I can’t wait to chase her and her sister on the beach this summer!

Today’s visitor to the baby studio

I had a wonderful visitor today at the baby studio setup in my home.  He is 3 weeks old and is very strong.    This is one of the few sleeping shots I got because he loved to be awake and looking around. Thanks for visiting.
